As of today, molecular genetic tests are performed mainly in super-equipped and expensive laboratories. The requirement of hi-tech genomic instruments, skilled technicians, biologists, bioinformaticians, doctors prevents the possibility to perform genetic tests in peripheral labs or clinical units. The infrastructural requirements make the costs per test relatively high and the turnaround time in the order of weeks.
